Bio

Laura is a national security and global affairs expert. A former CIA operations officer, she served many years undercover overseas before returning to Washington, D.C. She currently advises governmental and private clients on risk-management and promoting democratic values. Laura holds a Master’s in International Affairs from Columbia University, a Master’s in the Business of Art from Sotheby’s Institute of Art, and a Bachelor’s in History from the University of Minnesota. She serves on the Advisory Board of the Antiquities Coalition and is an Art Club of Washington member. Curator’s Statement

The artwork featured in American Lines connects our country’s past and present. Five artists, each with a unique process and medium – including found objects, mixed-media, painting, photography and video – coalesce around unflinching vistas into the United States. With impeccable techniques and informed narrations, each artist creates work that is emotionally powerful and without sentimentality or obfuscation. As we live through a global pandemic and in a nation divided, the most important art reflects, with rigorous honesty, this moment in time and inspiration for a better future.
